In the words of Stuart and Linda Macfarlane, "Show a dog an ounce of love and he'll be your friend for life."
When I first got my dog, Caesar, it just felt natural. Waking up to his licking and barking felt right. Just days after getting him, I didn't remember what it was like without a dog. When we'd drop him off at the groomers or a dog-sitter, the house felt empty and silent.
I didn't realize that he filled in a missing piece that I didn't even know was missing.
Dogs give us so much purpose and love. They are just these furry balls of positive energy with the goal to make us smile... and eat as much food as possible:) Some of my favorite parts of the day is going on a long walk or run with him. It is soothing and healthy for both of us!
Over time, I also learned that dogs will protect the ones they love in any scenario. Caesar is just this fluffy golden doodle who you would think couldn't harm a fly, but when he sees something suspicious, he's always there to protect us.
They are also amazing at reading human emotions. When you are happy, they are happy. When you are sad, they are cuddling up next to you to make you feel better. Even better, it has also been proven that they are stress-relievers. In other words, you are less stressed with them around. That's why they're trained for emotional support.
In the end, dogs are such an important part of our lives. They are loving, caring, and extremely entertaining. The world is a better place with them around!
